WHO ARE THE 99%?
by Charlie Hill
If you’re reading this,
chances are pretty good that you are. If you set your alarm to awaken and
commute to work, you are. If you made your children lunch, put them on a bus,
and wished them a great day at school, you are. If you look at the bills piling
up, while you work your fingers to the bone, and wonder who gets paid and who
has to wait, you are. If you worry about affording a College education, you
are. If you wonder what has happened to those that work hard, play by the
rules, pay taxes and protect and provide for their love ones have fallen
behind, you are. If you truly think that the way to become the 1% is to vote
the way they vote, then you are a chicken that befriends the Colonel.
The 99% the
OWS, (Occupy Wall Street),
crowd, i.e. movement, is not about disorder, is not about anarchy, is not about
class warfare, handouts, giveaways, assistance, rebel rousing, distraction,
destruction, decay, or delusion. It is about the human condition, the human
spirit, a kindness to others and a restoration of fairness and conscience to
the American marketplace. It is about self-preservation and compassion to one’s
fellow man, and the global neighborhood that he inhabits. It is about working
hard, pursuing the American dream, and not being punished and hindered, by a
fraction so well connected, so well heeled, that enough is never enough. It is
not about battle lines, and division of assets, it is about respect for all
labor, all people, and all those that are economically demoted because their
income does not allow them to buy a voice. It is about you.
When a significant percentage of people are removed from
the democratic process, because they can not afford to be heard, that their
voice of reason, is drowned out by the voice of money, when the discretionary
income of many barely allows for a meal out, others (1%) buy television
commercials at millions a clip to promote ‘elected’ officials that not only
help them preserve the piles of cash they have but to extract even more, then
it is not about occupying a street, but being heard. When the Nations highest
court rules that a corporation is a person, then the system is indeed broken.
(Yours truly will not believe that a corporation is a person until Texas executes one.)
The 99% is the voice of every American that does not have
the cash to be heard. The 99% is you.
WE HAVE WORK TO DO
Wall
Street
protests are the end result of economic and social inequalities. This
Redneck Party means to unite organized and unorganized labor to the
betterment of our great country. In the 1920's Corporate Greed had run
rampant on American soil. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt knew that
"necessitous men are not free men" We must organize around the Second
Bill of Rights that FDR was not able to implement. Please join us we
grow from the grassroots your movement of compassion for working class
citizens and let's implement FDR's dream for America through political
action. For links to Occupy near you click here
